Sumcab will showcase its cabling solutions and peripheral systems for robots at Advanced Factories 2025
Through its Sumcab Robotics and Sumcab Industry divisions, Sumcab will present its cabling and peripheral systems for robots and all types of automated industrial applications at Advanced Factories 2025
Sumcab will once again attend Advanced Factories, the benchmark trade fair for advanced technologies for automation and Industry 4.0, which will take place in Barcelona from 8 to 10 April. The leading manufacturer of special cables will present the new developments from Sumcab Industry and Sumcab Robotics, which include cabling solutions and systems for industry and innovative dresspacks for industrial robotics. As far as robotics is concerned, the highlights include the energy pack Sumotex and the Sumosense monitoring solution. On the other hand, the Industry division will showcase its cable solutions for continuous movement.
Sumcab Robotics: Efficiency and cable management for robotics
At booth 4D456 (hall 4), attendees will be able to see a robot equipped with the Sumotex dresspack and SumoSense system, used in a stud welding application by the company IVOSTUD.
Sumotex is a textile energy pack designed for safe and efficient guidance of tubes and cables on industrial robots. Its structure is based on a set of pressure chambers assisted by its own pneumatic system, which guarantees rigidity without losing flexibility, and allows the continuous movement of the robot without generating inadequate bending radii or unnecessary loops.
The compressed air system that runs through the interior of the robot acts as an “airbag” that protects the cabling against impacts from welding, high temperatures or the abrasion caused by friction with the robot chassis itself. In addition, since it does not require a mechanical retraction system, it simplifies programming and minimises maintenance costs. Thanks to its lightweight and compact design, the robot's dynamics are improved and energy consumption is reduced.
To monitor and maintain the optimal air pressure inside the Sumotex energy packs, Sumcab Robotics has developed the SumoSense system, a solution that ensures protection for the cables during robotic movements and prolongs their service life. Thanks to the integrated microprocessor and extensive communication options, SumoSense is able to store and interpret pressure maps in real time. The collected data can be visualised on any device thanks to the iSumotex interface developed by Sumcab.
The system is installed directly on the air inlet of the Sumotex dresspack, on axis 3 of the robot, and automatically adjusts the pressure if it falls below the set parameters. All data is recorded, so trends can be analysed and potential problems identified before they cause inconvenience.
Sumcab Industry: tailor-made solutions for every application
Sumcab Industry will present its latest innovations for industrial automation and robotics, with a special focus on the cabling range for continuous movement. Its solutions are available for both fixed installation and cable carrier chains and comply with the most demanding standards and certifications. Furthermore, the Industry division will introduce its Five Colours concept, a new colour identification system for its cable portfolio in the automated industry. This system, based on standards and regulations, assigns a specific colour to each type of cable: grey for power supply and device control; orange for servo motors; green for encoders and industrial communication; violet for buses and communication protocols; and black for power installations, motor power supply and other uses.
This business unit stands out for its capacity to design and develop both standard and customised solutions adapted to the application needs of the industrial market. With over 25 years of experience, Sumcab Industry boasts extensive market know-how and provides a wide range of cabling solutions for such sectors as automation, food & beverage, construction, ATEX, renewable energies and transport, among others.
